Description:

The Nashoba Valley Amateur Radio Club (NVARC) was formed in Groton Massachusetts in the spring of 1992 and has grown from the original 13 founders to over 50 members.  Our membership is focused in the towns of Groton and Pepperell, including members from surrounding towns in north central Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire.  Our purpose is to facilitate the exchange of information and general cooperation relating to Amateur Radio and to conduct club programs and activities to advance the interest and welfare of Amateur Radio in the general community.

A Special Service Club of the ARRL, we are actively involved with introducing the general populace to Amateur Radio (Field Day, "Ham Radio 101" presentation at the local library, Girl Scouts' "Thinking Day on the Air"), sponsor club activities and perform communications services for local charity events (Groton Road Race and Townsend Canoe Race). NVARC also hosts the web page for the Central Mass Two Meter Traffic Net, and and several members volunteer as VEs to proctor examinations for new and upgrading hams.

NVARC is the sponsor of the Worked All Massachusetts Counties Award, and sponsors awards to students in local science fairs. A renewed focus is to attract a younger audience by appointing a Youth Liason and offering introductory classes.

The Club meets at the Pepperell Community Center at 7:30 PM on the third Thursday of the month.
