LoTW - Special Circumstances

Before requesting any additional certificates you first must have established your primary LoTW account and have your gold ribbon certificate.

Club Calls

Clubs must create an UNSIGNED certificate request for the primary club call.  This primary call will receive its own LoTW login and password.  Certificates for additional calls for the same club must have a SIGNED certificate using the primary club call certificate to sign the request.

If you are no longer able to be the trustee for a club call then the account can be transferred to another person’s control.

Calls with Portable Identifiers

Certificates for calls with portable identifiers (W1AW/4) should be SIGNED using your primary call certificate and have a date range that corresponds with the portable operation.

DXpeditions, Contest Operations and Special Events

Certificates for your personal DXpeditions, contest calls or special events or should have a SIGNED certificated tied to your primary callsign.

Certificates for team DXpeditions, contest calls should have an UNSIGNED certificate.

Please contact LoTW if you are unsure about how to set up any special account.  We are happy to assist. lotw-help@arrl.org

1x1 calls

Special 1x1 callsign are assigned to special events for a period of 14 days.  You must request a SIGNED certificate for the 1x1 callsign and use the exact dates that the call was assigned to your event.

If this is a club event and the club has a primary callsign then the 1x1 callsign certificate request must be signed using the club call primary certificate.

QSL Managers

If you manage the logs and QSL operations for another person then you should request an UNSIGNED certificate for this person’s callsign.

QSL managers who manage multiple callsigns for the same operator or manage calls for more than one operator should contact LoTW before requesting certificates. lotw-help@arrl.org

LoTW is capable of accommodating every possible combination of callsign, operator and manager.
