Carl Hayden Community High School ARC (Phoenix, AZ) has been an active Amateur Radio club since 1992. Teaching students (and sometimes their parents) the knowledge and skills necessary to obtain their F.C.C. Amateur Radio license, our school boasts of dozens of students earning their "tickets" and their own call signs.

In 1994, our school was a local television celebrity when we successfully completed a Space Amateur Radio EXperiment (SAREX) contact with the astronauts aboard the space shuttle Columbia. We have also talked to Shannon Lucid aboard the space station Mir. Our students truly have expanded their horizons.

We have been nationally recognized for our public service activities, including teaching the first Spanish language Amateur radio class in the Phoenix area. We actively participate in the School Club Roundup contest held every February as well as the November Sweepstakes and Field Day. We are eager to show off our club station and especially the talented students who operate. Please drop by and visit us in room 702 at Carl Hayden Community High School.
