Special Service Club Spotlight

The Murgas Amateur Radio Club

ARRL Affiliated Clubs · Special Service Club Spotlight

Still going strong after twenty-five years, the Murgas Amateur Radio Club is an active group some 100 members strong. Monthly meetings, which include an educational or technical program, are always well attended.

We have a dynamic group of Volunteer Examiners who conduct exam sessions quarterly.

In terms of operating activities, the club callsign, K3YTL, is well known by VHF'ers as we have been active in contests for 20 years. We also participate yearly in Field Day. Murgas also is a repeat winner of the Pennsylvania QSO Party, most recently being 1999.

A portion of the proceeds of our yearly Hamfest support the Murgas Scholarship, which is administered by the Foundation for Amateur Radio.

Murgas members participate weekly in ARES nets. We provide public service communications each year in support of the Wilkes-Barre Triathlon, the M.S. Walk and the Hospice Hundred Bike Race.

KA3ZHT (L) and N3FA (R) operate 40 CW at Field Day.

President KE3OA (R) and contest chairman N3FA (L) with revolving PA QSO Party Club Trophy.
