The East Greenbush Amateur Radio Association is dedicated to promoting Amateur Radio through public service, education, mentoring, and sponsoring activities that support the important role it plays both as a hobby and as an important public resource.

EGARA offers communications support each year to a number of community events, and is available to help public safety agencies in times of emergencies.  The club also maintains several repeaters in New York's Capital District region for use by both its own members and other hams.

During its monthly meetings, EGARA presents educational programs designed to educate its members about developments affecting Amateur Radio, as well as demonstrations and lectures to further the knowledge of its members.

EGARA also offers an annual Hamfest each May, attracting hams and vendors of Amateur Radio products from all over the Northeast.  It also participates in ARRL's annual Field Day, operating two stations over the 24 hour duration of the event.
