A wild late afternoon, indeed!

A snapshot of some of the branches strewn all around the lot and grounds.

Looks like the after-effects of a leaf bag that blew up!

If you followed the weather for the Northeast over the past few days (or weeks!) you know that it hasn't *quite* been Summer here.

Late yesterday afternoon (6/26) proved otherwise. Extremely strong Summer-like thunderstorms rolled through the state, knocking out power for quite a few towns. Strong winds, flooding rains, large hail and possibly a tornado or two showed us swamp yankees that "Mother Nature" is still in charge!

The storms were so bad power was knocked out even at W1AW. Thankfully our Kohler generator kept us on the air. (Don't want to miss any Field Day bulletins!!)

The intermittant power fluctuations, surges and spikes did do a wee bit of damage, however. When I arrived at W1AW early this morn, I found that one of my PCs (that is used for visitor/contest operations) was toast! And, my 2-meter broadcast transmitter lost its frequency display.

Needless to say, I scrambled to get another PC set up, since I'll need it not only for regular visitor operations, but for FIELD DAY, too! I also got my backup 2-meter transmitter up and running as well.

Here are a few shots of the ARRL HQ parking lot. Awful lot of leaves and stuff.

73,

Joe, NJ1Q
