7O1YGF Logs Now In LoTW

Aug 19, 2009 12:46 ET
Bill Moore, NC1L

The logs for 7O1YGF have now been uploaded to LoTW. Please follow this procedure if you want to claim credit:

As with paper applications if you submitted 7O1YGF in the past and had it rejected, we will accept an e-application via LoTW and you will not be charged a submission fee for 7O1YGF only.

Make sure you have uploaded your QSOs. DXCC cannot open and search the logs for your QSO since doing this will not show the match that is required for a LoTW confirmation;

Access your account and begin the application process;

If you select only the 7O1YGF QSOs you will not be assessed the fees that LoTW will report back to you. If you choose other QSOs a regular submission fee will apply;

Complete the application (all 4 parts) and DXCC will place your e-application on the list for processing;

If you sent paper cards please DO NOT do a LoTW application and likewise if you do a LoTW application please DO NOT send cards!!

Special note for 7O1YGF applications ONLY: On Part 4 of the LoTW application click "Payment by mail" This step is VERY important to assure proper handling.

Remember, the 7O1YGF-only submission is free. LoTW notes a submission fee (automatically) and I have no control over this. When I process the submission the fee is waived. The 'payment by mail' notation is so that a fee is not charged, accidentally.

If you clicked on part one any QSOs other than 7O1YGF you must make proper payment.

Again: The above is ONLY for 7O1YGF submissions. Applications with other QSOs will be handled, and charged, as a regular submission.

DXCC will not acknowledge completion of the application. When finished, your numbers in LoTW will reflect the completion of your e-application.

If you achieve Honor Roll or Top of the Honor Roll from this submission and you would like to order the wall plaque, you can send me an e-mail or fax your order or send the order form by regular mail.

Note: This free submission offer will end on December 31, 2008. After this, applicants can include 7O1YGF with their regular 2009 submission.

7O1YGF QSL Cards (Update)

Aug 17, 2009 17:29 ET
Bill Moore, NC1L

I have started processing the 7O1YGF cards that have been sent to DXCC.

Please do not e-mail me asking if I got it or when will they be done. Mail is heavy as you can expect. Even e-mail is heavy and I cannot respond to it all.

If you have an account in LoTW please check your account totals once or twice daily or, if you do not have an account you can view your totals in the live listings on the DXCC web site. (www.arrl.org/awards/dxcc). Near the bottom of the page you will find the live DXCC standings. Note, the live standings are updated overnight so if you check them when you wake up in the morning the next update will not appear until the next morning. Updates to LoTW accounts are usually completed anywhere within a few minutes to about an hour after the update to a DXCC account.

Also, please do not look for a newly logged application in the List of DXCC Applications Received link on the DXCC web site. In order to expedite processing I am just adding the card to the last DXCC submission.

Several have contacted me and in their excitement they forgot to include the application form and asked to resend it. Please do not worry if this happens. As long as you send the card and SASE I can work with this no problem. (Under the circumstances, totally understandable!)

DXCC cannot handle any 7O fixes by telephone. DXCC participants must follow the instructions noted in the original announcement to send the card with SASE. This will assure that all updates are handled quickly and fairly.

Also, please remember the request must include a SASE. Several are sending completed envelopes with no return postage. A $2 postage and handling fee is assessed if an SASE is not included.

If this card brings you to either Honor Roll or Top of the Honor Roll and you would like to order the wall plaque, you can order this be sending me an e-mail with your order, or you can do it by reular mail or by FAX (860)594-0346. You can also call me at (860)594-0234.

7O1YGF good for DXCC!

7O1YGF QSL Card

The following operation has been approved for DXCC:

7O1YGF -- YemenOperation from April 16, 2000 through April 26, 2000

After reviewing recently-received information regarding the 7O1YGF operation, and after additional dialogue with a leader of the DXpedition, the DXCC desk has approved this operation.

Considering the length of time that has passed since this operation, we ask that DXCC participants who would like to claim credit for 7O1YGF follow the options below:

Send the 7O1YGF card ONLY to DXCC with a SASE, or return postage if outside the US; DXCC will process the card and applicants will not be charged a submission fee. 7O1YGF cards included with other cards will be handled as part of a normal submission.

Bring the card to a DXCC Card Checker. The card checker will forward the confirmation to the DXCC desk for processing. Again, there will be no submission fee if this is a single-card submission. You must fill out an application form, however.

In all other cases applicants can include their QSL card with their next submission, and it will be handled normally. We will work with the 7O1YGF team to use Logbook of the World if possible.

Remember, the cutoff date for the 2009 DXCC Annual listing and Honor Roll list is December 31, 2009. We encourage applicants to handle this sooner rather than wait until the last minute.73 es DX!

DXCC Annual List Questions

Jun 15, 2009 11:22 ET
Bill Moore, NC1L

DXCC has been receiving questions pertaining to the listings in the DXCC Annual. In particular, "Why are my 20 meter totals not showing" (This also pertains to other awards, not just 20 meters).

Since the Annual List was not published in the DXCC Yearbook for several years two important rules for being listed may have been forgotten.

1: In order for an award to appear the number from the previous year must increase by, at least, one point. Meaning that in 2007 if you had 322 on 20 meters and in 2008 your number remained at 322, your 20 meter total will not appear in the listing. You do not have to reach the next endorsement level to appear, but your number must increase by, at least, one point. If you have high numbers and nothing much to submit on your main mode awards, this is where filling in band points (especially on active awards) is critical. For instance, if your Mixed numbers did not increase but you made one 20 meter contact that is new for you, submit that card in the calendar year to increase your 20 meter total by one point to assure an increase in your totals. This is also important especially if you do not have Honor Roll. Making a submission of just this one QSO will qualify you for the free copy.

2: The DXCC Annual List only shows those awards that are active. (Meaning, you have a certificate for an award category). If you have 300 entites on 30 Meters but you have not activated that award (requested the certificate and paid the award fee) this award will not appear in the listing. You can fix this by contacting DXCC to activate the award (by the end of the calendar year). The fee for each award is $12 plus a small postage fee and an actual submission is not required to activate an award.

In addition to the above if you have not made a submission in the 2008 calendar year but you have Honor Roll (329 current or higher on an active award) you automatically qualify for the free copy as long as you are a current ARRL member (in 2008).

If you did not qualify but would like to purchase copies of the 2008 DXCC yearbook, send a note, with payment, to DXCC of:

$7.00 USA
$11.00 non-USA
