Many hams travel from around the world and this is a busy event for card checking. Please remember these tips that will help you and the card checkers through the process, avoid delays and allow us to serve everyone: Applications will be accepted for all ARRL awards, to include DXCC, VUCC, WAS and the IARU-WAC award.

Have all paperwork completed before you come to the table;

Make note of anything important to the card checker before they start;
Your checker will issue you a numbered claim ticket to claim your cards later in the day;

DXCC at Dayton, 2009!

May 28, 2009 18:28 ET
Bill Moore, NC1L

Once again, DXCC was kept busy checking award applications at the Dayton Hamvention. With many dedicated volunteer card checkers on hand, DXCC processed the following:

190 DXCC Applications totaling 13,402 country credits

8 WAS Applications totaling 600 state credits

4 VUCC Applications totaling 426 Grids

18 WAC applications

A new feature offered at Dayton this year was WAC applications were processed at the JARL booth, and, certificates were issued on the spot! The picture at the left shows JARL officials Masa Ebisawa, JA1DM and Hiroyoshi Tamama, JA1SLS (both official DXCC card checkers) working at the JARL booth.

We also helped applicants with questions and concerns about DXCC and LoTW. With the help of a good WiFi connection we were able to show hams how the DXCC program software actually works, performing some actual data entry and completion of some smaller application right at the booth. We also did live LoTW demonstrations and also assisted some who were not able to do their LoTW applications in time for card checking.

Thanks for all who stopped by to just say "Hi!", even thought you had no cards to have checked, as meeting and greeting many of you who we do not get to see much is also a big thrill.

Dayton is the first major convention of the busy summer season for DXCC staff who travel to many conventions both stateside and internationally. Many requests are coming in for DXCC convention travel so 2009 looks to continue to be a busy year for DXCC and we look forward to seeing you wherever we might be.

Thank you for our continued support and we look forward to seeing you in Dayton in 2010!
