1558 unique call signs in this log ... RTTY contesting just continues to grow. Thanks for all the QSOs and QSYs and multi-band contacts. Looking forward to having 10 meters as a fifth band in the future. Only 16 10-meter QSOs this year on Sunday mid-day, but 5 stations made all five bands with me. Last four hours on Sunday were a bit slow. 73, Ed - P49X (W0YK) -- W0YK

    VE4VID -- Jan 12, 2007 15:49 ET

This was my first attempt at a digital contest and I only had a few minutes. I couldn't find a number to calculate my score multipliers so entered the two (2) contacts I did have. Seemed like I was the lowest powered station as had trouble trying to get through the pileups.

Thanks for the contest. -- VE4VID

    N3XLS -- Jan 11, 2007 20:13 ET

    TA-33 and main Dipole

What a fantastic weekend and one full of "firsts"! First time we had three elements on the TA-33, (last year the reflector blew off just before RU and we ran in "180 mode"). First time we used the DX Cluster. First time we were serious about competing in the MS LP category. First time we had a third op and a first time for Scott, KA3QLF in a RTTY contest.

Day one of course, started with extreme optimism but seemed to just go slow. We had plenty of NA and SA, but couldn't buy EU. This was our swan song right up until our planned 0600z long break. Low and behold 40m opened wide for us and we were able to land 7 Mults. We heard at least that many more, but they just couldn't hear us. We bagged it at 0615z.

Day two, unfortunately, started with extreme pessimism. We only had 365 logged with 70 Mults and just couldn't figure what we were doing wrong. We hopped 20m would open for us and it did at 1200z. After only an hour running 80m and 40m we S&P'd 20m and found a boatload of EU. 15m opened to EU a few hours later for more Q's but no new Mults.

All in all a wonderful time! Having Scott over to play radio was great and I hope he had a great time. Most fun moment was a nice run on 20m that netted >100 Q's on 20M in 90 minutes. Ordinary for some, but outrageous @N3KAE. Most memorable moment was N3XLS just before our closing @ 2300z. Drying up CQing 20m, he looks at the cluster and sees KL7DX just 25kHz below. He says "Ah let me try 'em", and gets 'em on the second call! Thanks for being there KL7DX! all in all our Total score end up being 77,010, which looks like a new record for EPA M/S LP! If no one else scores higher.

Hope to work you all again, from Joe N3XLS, Al N3KAE and Scott KA3QLF -- N3XLS

    KC8SQC -- Jan 12, 2007 01:18 ET

Paul, KC8SQC, operating during the last hours of the contest.

QRP Baby! Had a great time in my first RU, worked 220 stations and 54 mults, my best contest showing yet! I operated approx 21.5 hours of the contest with down time during the late evening.

I never thought that five watts could have such success with so many high power stations. My success is only credited to the fantastic ops who took the extra time to work the weak ones! A special thanks to all those who had to suffer multiple exchanges to get me in the log.

20 meters was great, and 40 was on fire during the whole contest. I even worked some stations on 15, but didn't hear anyone on 10 all weekend.

I look forward to next year, and hopefully a higher score! -- KC8SQC

    CT2HAR -- Jan 9, 2007 15:25 ET

First RTTY Contest I have done, and work 25 US Stats and 2 Canadian Stats. All night long. Not bad, only with 50W some times push up my TS-870 to 100W (special to USA) and a vertical antenna. All work fine my CAT and my log system. It was a great experience and hopes to repeat again. Best 73 to all, and thanks to all who gave me a contact. Rui -- CT2HAR
