    N6QEK -- Jan 12, 2009 22:40 ET

Another really fun Roundup as usual! I was able to work all 50 states and some DX, although not as much DX this year as in years past. Special thanks to AJ3M for his contribution to the Roundup. I hope to do something special for next year's Roundup hi hi. 73 to all de N6QEK -- N6QEK

    N0HIO -- Jan 11, 2009 11:26 ET

This was my first attempt at RTTY and digital contesting. I'm loving it. I do apologize for the macro mess to my first contact. I got much better, I promise. Worked only 130 stations, 40 states, 10 DX (including Alaska), and 7 providences. May not seem like much but my most in a contest yet. Used an G5RV-jr at 20 ft, inverted V form and most contacts at 50 watts. Already have 38 states RTTY LOTW confirmed and added 8 to my WAS Basic with them also. I'll be back for more RTTY that's for sure. -- N0HIO

    AB0RX -- Jan 6, 2009 22:33 ET

    George, ABØRX operating the station

Joe, K0BX demonstrating the proper technique for calling CQ.

George, AB0RX and Joe K0BX joined forces again this year for another entry in the Multi Operator High Power category. Our club station recently received two ICOM 756 PRO-3s and we gave one of them a really good break-in. The lack of sunspots was certainly observed as band conditions were not as good as last year. The 15 Meter band was hardly open on Saturday. Sunday was a little better. The 20 Meter band was open but the openings to Europe and Asia were not as long as last year. We listened on 10 Meters once, heard nothing and never went back. Thunderstorms were predicted for Sat night threatening the low band portion of the effort but we were fortunate and 80 meters was a good as ever. Participation from all parts of the US was excellent. Worked All States was easily achieved with every state worked multiple times. In fact we almost worked WAS on three bands: 20M - 46 states, 40M - 45 states, 80M – 46 states, VE participation was good too but we missed LB, YT, NU and NWT. We made 113 QSOs with VE stations. DX participation was excellent as well as 299 DX QSOs were made despite the poor band conditions. Our log was loaded into LOTW shortly after the contest and within an hour we had over 400 QSOs confirmed. After 48 hours, over 700 QSOs have been confirmed and WAS has been confirmed. Thanks for working us again this year. 73 DE AB0RX and K0BX -- AB0RX

    W8JWN -- Jan 7, 2009 08:51 ET

My best score ever thanks to the new 4 element StepIR. The Bi-Direction function helped get those calling me off the back. I used it for 75% of the contest. New 250Hz filter in the FT-1000MP also a great benefit. Now, if I could get off to a better start, I could really do a lot better next year. The first hour of the contest every year I only work 30-40 stations on 20 meters. The second hour 70-80. Go figure!

Worked 50 states. Thanks Wyoming in the last hours on Sunday. -- W8JWN

    K5DU -- Jan 6, 2009 20:00 ET

    Susan K5DU

I just sat down for some casual operating. I was not going to spend the weekend at the radio. Somehow I found myself sitting for the 24 hours. I had fun and worked all states and not much DX.

    KD5IKG -- Jan 5, 2009 20:52 ET

First digital mode contest for me. I made my first RTTY contact ever during the contest. I had tried RTTY several times before over the years, but never got a reply while trying to figure it out. But during the contest everybody was willing to work me if they heard me!

Even had a couple hams help me during the contest to fine tune the macros for improved efficiency. Added some new states and DX's to my logbook. Heard an Alaska station for the first time but did not get it in the log. Not bad for an inverted G5RV Jr in a small antenna restricted lot and a few watts.

    Thanks for the fun!
