Upcoming Contests — Things to Do

Upcoming State QSO Parties

For state QSO party enthusiasts, there are several opportunities to participate during the next couple of weekends.

This weekend, the Nevada QSO Party begins at 0300 UTC on October 11 and concludes at 2100 UTC on October 13; the Arizona QSO Party begins at 1500 UTC on October 12 and concludes at 0500 UTC on October 13; the Pennsylvania QSO Party begins at 1600 UTC on October 12 and concludes at 2200 UTC on October 13; and the South Dakota QSO Party begins at 1800 UTC on October 12 and concludes at 1800 UTC on October 13.

Next weekend, the New York QSO Party begins at 1400 UTC on October 19, and concludes at 0200 UTC on October 20; the Illinois QSO Party begins at 1700 UTC on October 20 and concludes at 0100 UTC on October 21.

ARRL School Club Roundup

The ARRL October School Club Roundup runs from 1300 UTC on Monday, October 21 through 2359 UTC on Friday, October 25. School Club Roundup is co-sponsored by ARRL and the Long Island Mobile Amateur Radio Club (LIMARC). For full details on the event, visit www.arrl.org/school-club-roundup.

Bud Trench, AA3B, to Continue as WPX CW and SSB Director

The World-Wide Radio Operators Foundation (WWROF) is pleased to announce that Bud Trench, AA3B, has decided to continue as the WPX CW and SSB Contest

Director for the next several years. “After some personal reflection, I realized how much I enjoyed administering the WPX SSB and CW Contests,” Trench noted, adding that his goals are to continue the growth of participation in the WPX SSB and CW contests.

Morse Runner Community Edition New Release

The Morse Runner Community Edition project recently released version 1.85. The new release includes support for the ARRL November Sweepstakes, as well as other contest-specific improvements and bug fixes. Morse Runner is a fun tool that can help improve your CW contesting skills by simulating real contests with contest logging software like N1MM Logger+ and DXLog.
