Tips on Storing Those Hustler Resonators (Jud Whatley, W4NZJ) Want to know a very simple and cheap way to store those Hustler HF resonator tips and keep them from "rocking & rolling" around in your trunk/truck cab? It's simple! Go to your nearby K Mart. In the sporting department you should be able to find horizontal fishing rod racks made by "Berkley". A pack costs about $9.95 for two. They are made of black polypropylene with foam grip inserts and can hold up to 6 fishing rods or antenna tips in my case. Since I did not want to drill holes into my new truck to mount the racks, I went to Radio Shack and purchased a package of "Superlock Fasteners" (#64-2363) which cost about $1.95. These fasteners have adhesive on the rear of the tape and "velcro" type plastic fastener material on the front. I cut them to size and placed accordingly on the back sides of the above rod racks and some below the rear window of my truck. When placing, be sure to measure carefully to accommodate all resonator lengths and take into account possible folding "jump" seats, for example. Once the tape was affixed, I simply "snapped" the racks on and inserted my resonator tips. If, when installing, it seems the adhesive is not strong enough to hold the racks and the Hustler rods, merely add some contact cement to the adhesive side of the fastener material. No more loose resonators rolling around and I can also store the 22" base when I want to disconnect my entire whip assembly! It was EASY, CHEAP, and looks GREAT which greatly pleases my XYL! ,40477379662400
