THERE ARE SEVERAL EXPLANATIONS ON HOW THIS IS POSSIBLE. MY FAVORITE THEORY IS THAT THE SPRITE DISCHARGE ON TOP OF THE STORM CAUSES THE IONOSPHERE TO IONIZE. 10 METER PROPAGATION CAUSED BY NIGHTGLOW NIGHTGLOW ALSO KNOWN AS AIRGLOW IS A PHENOMENON THAT CAUSES A GREEN GLOW IN A DARK, CLOUDLESS SKY. IT LOOKS SIMILAR TO THE SOFT GREEN AURORA BOREALIS, BUT IS MORE UNIFORM AND LACKS THE STREAMING NATURE OF AURORAS. NIGHT GLOW IS CAUSED BY ATOMS THAT RECOMBINE AFTER BEING PHOTO IONIZED BY UV RADIATION FROM THE SUN DURING THE DAY. NIGHTGLOW IS MOSTLY VISIBLE DURING THE SUMMER MONTHS AROUND THE SOLSTICE.
