ORG ANTENNA PULLEY FROM DISCARDED CDS MY DESIGN FOR A HORIZONTAL DELTA ANTENNA ALLOWED THE ANTENNA TO FLOAT, SUSPENDED BY LARGE DIAMETER PULLEYS AT THE VERTICES SEE FIGURE 1. BY FLOATING THE DELTA I WOULD EQUALIZE THE TENSION IN THE THREE LEGS AND THE LARGE DIAMETER PULLEYS WOULD REDUCE BENDING STRESS ON THE ANTENNA WIRE. I DECIDED TO MAKE MY OWN PULLEYS. I REALIZED THAT HIGH TECH COASTERS DISCARDED CDS SEEMED TO BE AN APPROPRIATE DIAMETER SEE FIGURE 2. TWO CDS FORM THE OUTER PORTION OF THE PULLEY. FOR THE INNER PORTION, I USED A 1/8 INCH THICK, 4 INCH DIAMETER PLASTIC DISC. YOU SHOULD SIZE THE DISC THICK ENOUGH TO ALLOW THE WIRE OR ROPE YOU WILL RUN THROUGH THE PULLEY TO FIT LOOSELY BETWEEN THE CDS. I USED AN INEXPENSIVE HOLE SAW TO CUT THE DISC A JIG SAW COULD ALSO BE USED. THE BEARING FOR THE PULLEY IS MADE FROM SOME SCRAP TELESCOPING ALUMINUM TUBING. THE FRAME IS MADE FROM TWO 4 x 1 INCH PIECES OF 1/8 INCH THICK ACRYLIC PLASTIC HELD TOGETHER WITH 8 32 STAINLESS STEEL SCREWS, WASHERS, AND NUTS. THE SLEEVE PORTION OF THE BEARING SEE FIGURE 3 IS MADE BY USING A PIPE CUTTER TO CUT A LENGTH OF 5/8 INCH ALUMINUM TUBING EQUAL TO THE COMBINED THICKNESS OF THE INNER DISK AND BOTH THE CDS.
