THE DESIGN IS A BIT DIFFERENT BECAUSE IT DOES NOT HAVE A REGENERATION CONTROL, BUT IT DOES HAVE A SENSITIVITY POTENTIOMETER AT THE ANTENNA TERMINALS. THE SINGLE FIELD EFFECT TRANSISTOR FET PROVIDES A LOCAL OSCILLATOR AND DETECTOR FUNCTION, FOLLOWED BY AN AUDIO AMPLIFIER. INSTEAD OF THE USUAL THREE WINDING AIR CORE COIL FOR ANTENNA COUPLING, TUNING, AND REGENERATION, THIS UNIT USES FIXED WINDINGS ON A FERRITE TOROID INDUCTOR. THE RECEIVER CAN BE USED TO TUNE ANY SEGMENT OF APPROXIMATELY 100 KHZ IN THE RANGE OF 5 TO 8 MHZ. AS SUPPLIED, IT IS TUNED TO THE 40 METER HAM BAND, AND RECEIVES AM, CW, AND SSB. IN ADDITION, IT CAN BE MATED TO A TRANSMITTER OR USED AS A CODE PRACTICE OSCILLATOR. PUTTING IT TOGETHER ON THE BREADBOARD RADIO WEBSITE, YOU CAN FIND THE INSTRUCTION MANUAL, ADDITIONAL PICTURES, AND A DEMONSTRATION VIDEO. THE CAPACITOR MARKING VARIED SOME HAD THE ACTUAL VALUE, AND SOME A CODED VALUE. FOR EXAMPLE, THE MARKING 101 MEANS THE CAPACITOR IS 100 PF. AFTER APPLYING TWO COATS WITH LIGHT SANDING IN BETWEEN, I FOLLOWED THE INSTRUCTIONS AND MARKED OUT THE LOCATIONS THAT CORRESPONDED TO THE MOUNTING POINTS OF THE PC BOARD AND DRILLED A STARTER HOLE AT EACH MARK.
