Readme file for GPScntrl.zip - Brooks Shera, W5OJM June, 1998
Version 1.29 (setpoint changed from 1024 to 800)

The accompanying file contains the binary code to program a
Microchip PIC 16C73A for use in the controller described in
the article "GPS-controlled Frequency Standard" published
in QST, July, 1998. The file is written in standard Intel
hex format (INHX8M) and is compatible with the Microchip
PICSTART Plus and other programmers. If you are using the
PICSTART the following steps can be followed.

1) connect programmer to PC serial port, run the PICSTART software
2) from the menus select PicstartPlus > EnableProgrammer (specify comm port)
3) File > Import > DownloadToMemory (specify hex file name)

Verify that the device is a PIC16C73, oscillator XT, watchdog OFF,
powerup ON.

4) PictartPlus > Program/Verify (specify start address 0, end addr 04FF)

The code should run on any version of the 16C73A with a max clock
speed of 10 MHz or greater. For development, I used the more expensive
erasable version, PIC16C73A/JW, in place of the one-time-programmable
version specified in the QST article.

Possible later versions of the software, and the source code for
non-commercial purposes, are available from the author at the
address below. Preprogrammed PIC16C73A's are available from the
same source.
