Amateur Radio Club of the University of Arkansas Marks Centennial with Special Event

08/17/2016

The Amateur Radio Club of the University of Arkansas (ARCUA) will mark its 100th anniversary with a special event on Saturday, August 27, from W5YM at the home of the Razorbacks. Operation from W5YM will begin at 1500 and continue until 2200 UTC, with a focus on 80, 40, and 20 meters. A commemorative QSL card will be available.

To kick off the year-long celebration in January, the club donated a J-37 telegraph key to “FIFI,” the last flying B-29 bomber.

The club is planning additional activities to celebrate its centennial. More information about the special event is available on the club’s website and via Twitter @W5YM_ARCUA. — Thanks to ARCUA alumnus Kevin Thornton, K5KVN
