Jack Smith, K8ZOA, was first licensed as KN8ZOA in 1961 and has held an Amateur Extra class license since 1963. He received a BSEE degree from Wayne State University in Detroit in 1968 and a JD degree magna cum laude from Wayne State University School of Law in 1976. Presently retired, he has enjoyed a career involving both engineering and telecommunications law. He is a co-founder of the telecommunications consulting firm TeleworX and is the author of Programming the PIC Microcontroller with MBasic (Newnes Publishing: 2005), as well as articles published in QEX and 73 Amateur Radio magazines.
