March ARECC Registration Opens Today

March registration for the Amateur Radio Emergency Communications Course (EC-001) will open at 4 PM EST Monday, March 12. The delayed opening time is intended to allow more day workers and West Coasters to enroll. February registration remained open for four full days, but don't count on a repeat this month. After 4 PM Monday, the registration form can be found on ARRLWeb.

Honorable Mention for this month goes to our youngest ARECC graduate--14-year-old Bixler McClure, KU6Z. "When I heard about the first offering of the course, I didn't sign up because I thought it would be too difficult, due to my age," said young McClure. "The second time around, I got up the courage and signed up. I'm glad I did! Diligence to study the material is required, but the difficulty level is not overwhelming. I learned much from the course. It didn't just give me knowledge about ARES and RACES, but it also hit on NTS practices. I would highly recommend this course to anybody, especially young hams who want to learn more about emergency communications. We are the future of Ham radio!" McClure, an ARRL member, holds an Extra Class license.
