Section Manager Election Notice

June 19, 2001 -- To all ARRL members in the Alabama, Alaska, Delaware, East Bay, Kansas, Michigan, New Mexico, Santa Barbara, Tennessee and Western Massachusetts. You are hereby solicited for nominating petitions pursuant to an election for Section Manager (SM). Incumbents are listed on page 12 of any issue of QST and on the ARRL Web.

To be valid, a petition must contain the signatures of five or more full ARRL members residing in the section concerned. Photocopied signatures are not acceptable. No petition is valid without at least five signatures, and it is advisable to have a few more than five signatures on each petition. Petition forms (FSD-129) are available on request from ARRL Headquarters but are not required. We suggest the following format:

We, the undersigned full members of the ______ ARRL section of the ______ division, hereby nominate ______ as candidate for Section Manager for this section for the next two-year term of office.

Any candidate for the office of Section Manager must be a resident of the section, a licensed amateur of Technician class or higher and a full member of the League for a continuous term of at least two years immediately preceding receipt of a petition for nomination. Petitions must be received at Headquarters by 4 PM Eastern Time on September 7, 2001. Whenever more than one member is nominated in a single section, ballots will be mailed from Headquarters on or before October 1, 2001, to full members of record as of September 7, 2001, which is the closing date for nominations. Returns will be counted November 20, 2001. Section Managers elected as a result of the above procedure will take office January 1, 2002.

If only one valid petition is received from a section, that nominee shall be declared elected without opposition for a two-year term beginning January 1, 2002. If no petitions are received from a section by the specified closing date, such section will be resolicited in the January 2002 QST. A Section Manager elected through the resolicitation will serve a term of 18 months. Vacancies in any Section Manager's office between elections are filled by the Field & Educational Services Manager.
