ARRL Headquarters Continues Picnic Tradition

ARRL Picnic

NEWINGTON, CT, Jul 26, 2001--More than 160 ARRL Headquarters staff members, former staffers, retirees and their families joined members of the ARRL Board of Directors Saturday, July 21, for a traditional company picnic on the HQ grounds at Newington.

Board members, having just concluded their July meeting that ran into overtime, got to unwind during the festivities as well as to meet Headquarters' staffers and their families. The event was a huge hit.

Last year ARRL President Jim Haynie, W5JBP, expressed his desire to have a social event where the Directors could meet informally with Headquarters staff and their families. The staff responded enthusiastically by planning a picnic. This year the ARRL Headquarters "family" once again gathered on the League grounds for a traditional picnic. ARRL Executive Suite secretary Lisa Kustosik, KA1UFZ, organized the event. "There were a few new faces here at the League this year," she said. "This is a wonderful opportunity for the new people to meet the directors and staff."

The weather was perfect for a picnic. ARRL Foundation Secretary Mary Lau, N1VH, observed, "Children, family members and staff mixed easily. The children made the day a free-for-all."
