NEWINGTON, CT, November 23, 2004.--The ARRL Nebraska Section and West Central Florida Section have elected new Section Managers, and New York City-Long Island has re-elected its incumbent in the three contested races. Section Manager election ballots were counted and verified today at ARRL Headquarters. Terms of office begin January 1, 2005.

Matthew Anderson, KA0BOJ, received 270 votes, and his opponent, Dan Steinhoff, W7UP, had 80 votes. Matthew Anderson, from Ashland, has been a licensed radio amateur for 28 years and is presently serving as ARRL Emergency Coordinator for Saunders County. He is active in several aspects of Amateur Radio and that includes teaching Amateur Radio licensing courses. Anderson will succeed Bill McCollum, KE0XQ, who has been the Nebraska Section Manager for 10 years. McCollum did not seek another term.

In the West Central Florida Section, Gerald Dee Turner, N4GD, of Pinellas Park, received 495 votes, and John Townsley garnered 224 votes. Dee Turner has been licensed since 1991, and is currently the Vice President of the St. Petersburg Amateur Radio Club where he has taught Amateur Radio classes and serves as an ARRL Volunteer Examiner. Dee will take the Section Manager reins from Dave Armbrust, AE4MR, who has been West Central Florida's SM since the start of the section in 2000.

In the New York City/Long Island Section, George Tranos, N2GA, of Bellport, was re-elected to a new term of office when he received 534 votes, and his opponent, Steve Barreres, K2CX, received 351. George Tranos has held the SM position since April 1998.

As previously announced, incumbent SMs in six other sections had no opposition and will continue in office for new two-year terms starting January 1. They include Dale Bagley, K0KY, Missouri; Rich Beaver, N3SRJ, Western Pennsylvania; Jim Boehner, N2ZZ, South Carolina; Tom Dick, KF2GC, Northern New York; Jean Priestley, KA2YKN, Southern New Jersey; Dale Williams, WA8EFK, Michigan. Mike Neilsen, W1MPN, also begins his term as the new Eastern Massachusetts SM when the New Year rolls around.
