I'm assembling the Pioneer and really having fun with it. I'm even improving my soldering skills as I go along. I'm especially impressed by the clear step by step instructions. Too many people want to sell kits but don't bother printing clear instructions. There's nothing more discouraging for a beginner than to spend hours on something that doesn't work in the end. Clear instructions go a long way and I would have been further along if Dr Duino kits had been around when I was younger. I can't wait to see these leds light up.

Dr Duino's Pioneer shield is a perfect starter project for those who want to explore Ardiuno capabilities and learn more about working on electronic projects. I am a complete newbie to building a project on a PCB board. This was my first quarantine Arduino project. First order of business was to order all the materials needed to build the project. Guido has put together a very nice list of tools and materials needed to work on the pioneer and the explorer boards. Here is what first timers will learn, what tools are needed to work on an electronic project and be successful, detailed installation notes for both pioneer and explorer shields, programming language to program the shield, and superb customer service from Guido. I got impatient and started building too soon without the needed tools, many times thought I destroyed the shield, but the shield is well built and survives mistakes very well, you will learn a lot. Guido will be there to provide superb customer service. My advice would be to slow down and pay special attention to the soldering process, i.e. using flux, while soldering and practice on your soldering skills with a spare pcb board to get a feel for the soldering iron and the correct solder to use. I am looking forward to building my next arduino project with Dr Duino.

The second board from Dr Duino that I have built with the addressable colored leds being the main attractive feature for me. My first very impressive experience was with a pair of the ultimate shield, the Pioneer extends this experience and capability and if anything is of a little bit higher quality board. Great item, even had a first pass success on testing the board, a tribute to the quality of the instructions, getting used to working from a computer screen while building hardware. Great approach allows the expense of publishing manuals to be applied to increased quality and features of the kits.
