The following is a list of sites that we recommend for people who want to get more information about RF safety. There has been no attempt to include every site that is related to the topic. These are the ones that we feel are the most useful, accurate and informative.

The RF Safety Committee has, at one time, reviewed the content of each of the following sites. To the best of our knowledge, the information that was contained there at that time was accurate. However, we cannot guarantee that everything contained in these sites is correct, particularly when it has been modified following our review.

FCC Resources

• FCC RF Exposure Regulations News Release (Report and Order 96-326), August 1, 1996. This is the FCC announcement for the new rules.
• FCC extends compliance transition period (FCC report). In response to a petition from the ARRL, the FCC extended the transition period and agreed that the required questions for the Amateur Radio examinations for some classes of license could be updated in their normal cycles.
• FCC RF Exposure Regulations First Memorandum Opinion and Order 96-487, December 23, 1996. The FCC responds to several petitions for reconsideration and extends the transition period for the Amateur Radio and commercial services.
• FCC RF Exposure Regulations Second Memorandum Order and Opinion 97-303. The FCC responds to all the Petitions for Partial Reconsideration and announces new changes to the rule (FCC Second Memorandum and Order).
• OET Bulletin 65, "Evaluating Compliance with FCC-Specified Guidelines for Human Exposure to Radio Frequency Radiation." In four parts: Bulletin 65 - General Information; Supplement A - Additional Information for Radio and Television Broadcast Stations; Supplement B - Additional Information for Amateur Radio Stations; Supplement C -Additional Information for Evaluating Compliance of Mobile and Portable Devices with FCC Limits for Human Exposure to Radiofrequency Emissions.

RF Exposure Calculations

• University of Texas Amateur Radio Club RF-Calculator Web Page.
• NF.EXE - A freeware near-field analysis program written by Brian Beezley, K6STI.
• RFSAFETY.BAS - A freeware Basic source code for an RF-exposure calculator program.
• RFSAFETY.C - A freeware C source code for an RF-exposure calculator program.
• The RFSAFETY program was written by Wayne Overbeck, N6NB, and featured in the January 1997 issue of CQ VHF. The C version is a World Wide Web front end for a public domain C program written by Ken Harker, KM5FA, using the cgic library, derived from the program written by Mr Overbeck.
