Monthly Summary for October 2006
SEPTEMBER 2006
The Amateur Radio Expo 2006 at the LA County ended on Oct 1, 2006. We had a
great success, over 1 million people attended the fair and with over 80,000
coming in thru the Red Gate at Sycamore street on the weekends when we were
there. SATERN received 14 applications, IEARC received 20 applications to
join. I would like to thank everyone that supported the event either by
donations or providing their time as volunteers.
SEPTEMBER 28, 2006 - The Southern Orange Amateur Radio Club demonstrated
digital communications at the Orange Fairgrounds at an Electronics show.
Great job SOARA!

OCTOBER 26 - 31 - The Esparanza Fire in Riverside County, which took the lives
of 5 firefigthers and loss of at least 100 homes and scorched at least 80
acres of land is a reminder to all Amateur Emergency Communicators the need
to keep up with training, updated information, and availability to volunteer.
My appreciation to all those in the San Bernardino/Riverside SATERN, Red
Cross, RACES teams who assited with shelters, firefighters and other agencies
in support of the community. Kuddo's to all.
The database is once again a place where resources of available volunteers in
the Orange Section no matter what group or team they belong to can place
themselves on this database and tell us who they wear there hat with (ARES,
RACES, SATERN, SKYWARN, etc). We encourage all to sign up on the database. Go
to www.orange-arrl.org if you have questions please call or e-mail my Section
Emergency Coordinator, Steve Grudzinski AD6HT at ad6ht@arrl.net .
