RE: Radio Frequency Interference

Dear Mr. Hafer:

This is in response to additional complaints of harmful radio interference by < Name Deleted > of Toms River, NJ. As you may recall, the Commission previously notified Mr. Peter Burg of this case by letter on July 11, 2003. The source of this noise at that time was apparently equipment operated by FirstEnergy. For your reference, the complainant reporting this interference was:

< Name and Address Deleted >
Toms River NJ 08753-4547

Based on a letter you sent to the complainant on July 31, 2003, < Name Deleted > contacted the Customer Service Center at 800 662-3115 on the following dates:

1. August 11, 2003

2. August 13, 2003

3. October 7, 2003

Despite these attempts to contact the Customer Service Center as suggested by your letter, the interference continues. Please be advised the noise being reported in this case is strong enough to disrupt neighborhood broadcast radio and television services in addition to the Amateur service. Moreover, the noise has been ongoing for a considerable period of time. We would appreciate an effort to contact < Name Deleted > and revisit this case. Please update the Commission within 45 days of receiving this letter as to what progress is being made in locating and resolving this interference

Thank you for your consideration in this matter. If you have any questions, please contact me at (717) 338-2502. Technical help is also available by calling Michael Gruber at the ARRL. His number is (860) 594-0392.
