- Description:

The Palmetto Amateur Radio Club was founded in 1971.
It is based in Broward County, with its repeater site located in Aventura — at “Hampton East, 20281 East Country Club Dr., Aventura, FL 33180.”
PARC operates a repeater system (VHF/UHF/C4FM), which gives members good coverage throughout Broward County and northern Dade County.
Activities, Services & Club Focus
PARC offers a variety of activities and services for members, making it more than just a radio-users group:
Repeaters & On-the-Air Access — As noted, PARC’s repeaters make it possible to connect over a large area, a core resource for local hams.
Monthly Meetings (Virtual & In-Person) — The club holds regular meetings (often via Zoom), making it accessible even if you can’t attend physically.
“Field Days” / Outdoor & Park Activities — Through a program they call “PARC Hoppers,” the club organizes monthly Field Days in different parks around Broward County. This gives members a chance to get on the air from outdoor locations, meet in person, and share the hobby socially.
Licensing, Mentoring, & Support for New Hams — PARC provides license test sessions, mentoring for newcomers, and educational support — helpful if you’re new to amateur radio.
Diverse Interests / Modes — The club supports a broad range of amateur-radio interests: general ham radio operations, VHF/UHF communications, digital modes (e.g., DMR & C4FM), repeaters — suitable for casual operators, experimenters, and experienced hams alike.
Community & Outreach — PARC also engages in community-oriented activities, including cooperation with organizations like the Boy Scouts of America (for events such as JOTA — Jamboree On The Air).
PARC is well-suited for:
Local amateur radio operators in Broward County or nearby who want reliable repeater access.
New hams needing support, mentoring, license-testing, and a friendly community to help them learn the ropes.
Hams interested in portable/outdoor operating — Field Days, park activations, or casual meetups outside the shack.
People who value flexibility: virtual meetings for convenience and in-person/field events for social and on-air fun.
Operators who enjoy a variety of radio interests — analog VHF/UHF, digital modes (DMR), general ham radio topics.
What Sets PARC Apart
The “PARC Hoppers” concept — mobile/park-based Field Days across Broward County — is a creative way to keep things active and social.
Balance of virtual and in-person options — good for both long-time hams and newcomers with busy schedules.
A supportive orientation toward new members — with mentoring, licensing help, and encouragement to get on the air — which helps grow the ham community locally.
Emphasis on community outreach, public service, and engagement beyond just hobby radio — including cooperation with local community groups like the Boy Scouts.
