I bought a tablet and special cable ( about $ 175) to control my id-51a plus dStar HT. The tablet won't see the cable. ICOM told me I should make sure the tablet has "host mode". Anybody know how to do that? The tablet runs Android 6.0 |

This page has a link to test reports on devices claiming to have "host mode." It is usually an advertised feature. The first place to look is list of features for your tablet. https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/36887/how-can-i-determine-if-my-device-has-usb-host-mode-otg-support Zack Lau W1VT ARRL Senior Lab Engineer |

Host mode is apparently the same as OTG (on the go) USB support. See Wikipedia article. There are numerous Android apps in Google Play to check your device. Search for "OTG checker". |

PROBLEM SOLUTION I took it to the local computer guy. For $24 I learned that on the id-51a you go .. Menu -> Function ->Cl-V-> Cl-V(Data Jack) and you're in the groove. PS: Good luck finding that in the documentation. |
