lisence Call letters question

Hello, I just received my new call letters, question is: I thought our call signs were associated with the location and area we live in. My new call sign is KL4UN which puzzles me since I live in Alaska with is part of Area 7. Where as Area 4 is in the South East USA. Is this Normal now?
