I HAVE USED MY 480 MOBILE AND SHACK. WHEN ORIGINALLY INSTALLED IN MOBILE IT TUNED FINE. NOW I GET THE SWR NO TUNE SIGNAL. TS ALL WIRING, NO OPENS, SHORTS, INTERMITTENTS. MOVED IT TO THE SHACK AND IT TUNED ON A DIPOLE ONLY ON 40. 20 METER DIPOLE.
TRIED OTHER BANDS, NO JOY.
CONTINUITY ON MOBILE MAST AND ANT. W/NEW BRACKET.

TRIED TURNING PWR ON MOBILE TO 50W, NO JOY.
CALLED KENWOOD, STATED IF IT TUNES ON ONE ANTENNA=NOTHING WRONG.
I FIND IT HARD TO BELIEVE A NEW RM 40 IS ABOVE 10:1.

THOUGHTS?

A dipole is easily detuned by nearby wiring or metal objects. It would be best if you can get that at least 30 feet in the air to work well on 20 and 40 meters. Bending it will typically raise the resonant frequency.
