vanity call, from SK to active ham

My dad passed away about 2 months ago, WA4OAH. I, my wife and both sons have our calls. I decided to let my oldest son get dad's call.When dad got his call he was just a tech but the written test was the same as general then. Code speed was the only difference. Dad got upgraded to generay when the code requirement was dropped. My son is just a tech, so we get dad's call transferred to him or does he have to get his general? |

General or Technician class licensees can seek a 1x3 call sign (beginning with prefix N, K or W), or 2x3 call sign (beginning with prefix letter K or W) -- FCC call sign Groups C or D. He does not need to get his general to get a vanity 2x3 call sign. |
