TEN TEC OMNI V SIDETONE KEY CLICKING SOUND

Hello, name is joe, wa3cka, I have owned an Omni 5 for 22 years and it has always had a very loud key clicking sound on the cw sidetone that I hear as I send cw. Ten Tec had the radio and claims they were unable to detect this problem. Do you have any information from other hams that may have had this problem and found a fix. I have tried several as posted on line but have been unable to correct the problem. Your input will be appreciated. 73 Joe wa3cka |

Do you have still have this problem if the power output is turned all the way down, or if you are running the rig into a dummy load? One possibility is that you have an RF feedback issue--this could explain why this problem would disappear on the test bench. Zack Lau W1VT ARRL Senior Lab Engineer |
