AMSAT-UK Colloquium 2016 Presentations to be Streamed Live

07/29/2016

Presentations at the AMSAT-UK Colloquium July 29-31 in Guildford, England, will be streamed live to a global audience, thanks to volunteers from the British Amateur Television Club (BATC).

The web stream will begin on Saturday, July 30, at 0915 UTC, with the official opening by Sir Martin Sweeting, G3YJO. The conference schedule is available on the AMSAT-UK website. Recordings of all talks will be posted on the AMSAT-UK YouTube Channel following the event.

A full program of presentations covering all aspects of the Amateur Satellite world is on tap for Saturday and Sunday, and a satellite beginner’s session is scheduled for Friday afternoon. Sessions will include updates on the many new satellites expected to be launched over the next few months, including Es’hail-2, which will carry the first-ever geostationary Amateur Radio transponder and provide more than 8 MHz of new spectrum to five continents. Sessions on how to develop software receivers using GNU radio, reviews of UK Astronaut Tim Peake’s (KG5BVI/GB1SS) ARISS contacts and the STEM results achieved, information about a new 76 GHz satellite project, a review of how to operate in the field, and more are on the program.

The banquet speaker will be Libby Jackson of the UK Space Agency, who worked with the ARISS-UK team during Peake’s ISS mission. Visit the AMSAT-UK Colloquium web page for additional information. — Thanks to AMSAT News Service
