ARRL Introduces Three Major Titles for Fall!

10/12/2010

The ARRL is now shipping the 2011 ARRL Handbook with BONUS Offer, Antenna Towers for Radio Amateurs by professional tower climber Don Daso, K4ZA, and ARRL’s PIC Programming for Beginners Revised First Edition, by ARRL Education and Technology Coordinator Mark Spencer, WA8SME.

The ARRL Handbook for Radio Communications is part reference and part applied theory, filled with practical treatments of basic electronic fundamentals, RF design, digital and software radio technology, and antenna construction. It strikes the perfect balance between presentations of time-tested material and coverage of the expanding scope of Amateur Radio and the state of the art.

For more than eight decades, The Handbook has empowered radio amateurs and professionals alike with its do-it-yourself approach, finding its way onto workbenches and operating desks, and into technical libraries and institutions. This edition has been significantly enhanced, featuring new topics, new projects and expanded content. The CD-ROM at the back of the book includes the fully searchable text and illustrations in the printed book as well as companion software, PC board templates and other support files. Hardcover and Softcover editions are available from ARRL and ARRL publication dealers. For a limited time, get the hardcover edition for the softcover price of only $49.95 (regular $59.95) when you order now from ARRL or while supplies last.

Antenna Towers for Radio Amateurs will guide you through the installation process in its entirety, from selecting a tower, digging the base, pouring concrete, and installing the tower, antenna and accessories. Included are tips for working with rope and pulleys, guy wires and associated hardware. You’ll also learn proper procedures for taking down existing towers, conducting inspections and performing maintenance. Whether you aspire to climb and work on an antenna tower yourself, or hire a professional, this is your guide to success! Antenna Towers for Radio Amateurs is available in the ARRL Bookstore-- for only $34.95.

ARRL has re-released the widely popular title ARRL’s PIC Programming for Beginners, an introductory guide to understanding the design and development of programmable integrated circuit devices. Written in a building block approach, this book provides readers a strong foundation on the subject. As you explore the potential of these powerful devices, you’ll find that working with PICs is simple and educational -- and most importantly, fun. The included CD-ROM is filled with programming resources, supplementary reading, short video clips and other helpful data. ARRL members can purchase this book directly from the ARRL Bookstore—for only $39.95, a savings of $5 off the regular price of $44.95.

This Revised First Edition is now for use with ARRL’s PIC Programming kit (ARRL Order No. 0030, retail $149.95), sold separately. The kit is expected to begin shipping before the end of the month.
