Surfin': Inauguration's Communications

01/15/2009

Big doings in Washington, DC this Tuesday, and whenever something big is happening, we are there. Barack Obama's inauguration as 44th President of the United States (and Joe Biden as Vice President) is no exception.

On January 19-20, Amateur Radio special event station K4I will mark the inauguration by providing talk-in service for ham radio operators traveling to the Washington, DC area for the inauguration. Arlington Radio Public Service Club (ARPSC), W4AVA, in cooperation with Arlington County RACES, Midwest Amateur Radio Service (MidCars) and the Arlington County Office of Emergency Management, will activate K4I. Visit ARPSC's 2009 Inauguration Web page for the details concerning this operation.

The District of Columbia Amateur Radio Society, W4A, will be on the air on "all bands" in commemoration of the inauguration from January 17-24. QSL via Eric Rosenberg, W3DQ, 3511 Patterson St NW, Washington, DC 20015-2557.

On January 20, OMIK Amateur Radio Association, Inc. will hold a special event operation in recognition of the inauguration. Visit OMIK's Web site for the operating times and frequencies.

Until next time, keep on surfin'!
