2019 ARRL Straight Key Night

01/02/2019 | K9VKY

Another grand night of brass pounding was had along with the smell of hot beeswax and mildew from the stalwart PRC-1 spy radio. Limited to four frequencies in the 7100-7125 Kc (yes, Kc...) segment confined operations to the miserable conditions on 40 Meters this year.   My thanks to all those who persevered to pull the low power signals out of the high noise level and digital QRM.   For those who are interested in the PRC-1, the transmitter is a crystal controlled 6V6 into an 807 with perhaps 15 watts out.   The receiver is a challenging single conversion superhet lacking bandspread, filters, phasing, or any other amenities.
