2019 ARRL January VHF Contest
Had a great weekend, weather in the Northeast cancelled my Sunday business travel plans so I got an extra day for the contest! Life is good, but my Rover partner Mr. Murphy was present. After a long ride on Saturday, I got home at midnight and did not "recharge" the battery for the AMPS and Transverter, so first thing Sunday morning, I hit the transmit button and everthing went down, No power, not enough power to kick in the PPT relay. Ouch, now the challenge of doing this while driving, had to find a safe place to pull over and trouble shoot. Well ended up with disconnecting the House battery and running on the line from the car battery, by-passed all the amps and had to settle for 8 watts output on Sunday. Still managed to work a few people from 50 to 1296.
Had a face to face meeting with K5ND/R,KA5D/R and KD5IKG/R in Hico Texas, Jim was traveling North and we were traveling South along the grid lines. Alway great to see what others are doing and their set ups!
A great time was had, but the propogations was not there for most of the contest, missed the band openning Sunday evening.
