2019 ARRL Field Day
The Lamorinda Area Radio Interest Group set up club station K6ORI as a 3A entry on Lafayette Ridge in Briones Regional Park above Lafayette, California. K6ORI operated only on Saturday but managed HF QSOs from Hawaii to the east coast. 6 meter QSOs were made locally as well as with Washington state and New Mexico. A SOTA station over 150 miles away on Shuteye Peak south of Yosemite National Park was QSO'd on 2 meter sideband. Two ARRL Radiograms were originated and sent, one to the East Bay Section Manager. Solar power was used to charge the VHF/UHF station's battery and generators charged the batteries for the two HF stations. K6ORI was visited by ARRL East Bay SM Jim Siemons, W6LK and ASM John Primus, AF6RJ as well as Lamorinda Emergency Preparedness Coordinator Dennis Rein, KJ6QWU. The 98 degree temperatures kept most visitors away but did not dampen K6ORI's enthusiasm for this annual event.
