2020 ARRL June VHF Contest

06/19/2020 | K7CNT

Once again I setup portable operations in the Cerbat Mountains at Windy Point Campground at 6,125 ft. And yes the wind blew the entire time. Was setup outside under a canopy with the old FT-726r running 10 watts on 6/2/432 mhz. Had a 3 element yagi for 6m, 11 ele on 2m and 11 ele on 432 yagi's. Was working only CW and SSB contacts and logging on a laptop running AC Logger software for the contest. 6m finaly opened up for me Saturday evening and made several contacts into the northwest area. Two meters and 432 contacts were all within a 100 mile radious and typical for this location. Six meters is the real work horse for me and band openings are critical. Sunday morning six opened up on the east side of the country and I could hear them but my 10w could not get their attention. All in all I had a great time once again. My good friend Wayne (WE7G) was with me for the event but did not operate.
