2022 ARRL Field Day

06/26/2022 | wd8dsb

Part time 1E operation (operated 12 hours) and missed most of the 40 meter prime time Saturday night in lieu of a good nights sleep. Power source was a 400 watt off grid solar system consisting of four 100 watt panels and a 300 Ah lead acid cell battery bank which is a small system I built for my house a few years ago for emergency backup power. Transceiver on 40 Meters was a MFJ-9340 (Cub) with amplifier running 20 watts output and on 20 Meters I used a MFJ-9320 (Cub) with amplifier running 14 watts output.  I also used a Hi-Per-Mite active audio filter (200 Hz bandwidth).   My antenna on both bands was a homebrew 40 meter EFHW mounted horizontally 20 feet up.  It's always fun seeing how well the small MFJ cub works as long as you've tamed drift and use a narrow audio filter to help tune in stations as close to their TX frequency as possible.

40 meters CW QSOs = 251
20 meters CW QSOs = 131
Total QSOs = 382

Thanks for all the QSOs. 73, Don (wd8dsb)
