11/05/2002 | K3NK The last time I competed in the Sweepstakes contest was 24 years ago.

I'm not sure what persuaded me to check out the contest this year, but was pleasantly surprised by the wall-to-wall activity on all bands. Initially the plan was to make a few S&P QSOs, but it didn't take long to get caught up in the competition/fun and I stuck around for a several hours. I found it interesting, but not surprising, how most of the "checks" were pre-1980. It would be interesting to see a statistical analysis/graph of the check dates.

I had a good time and will be back next year. My only disappointment is missing a clean sweep by 1.....Vermont - where were you? :)
