Here's a new addition to Murphy's Law: If anything dies on you it will be the thing you have only one of. I have two transceivers; one amp. Guess which one died the day before the contest? Then on contest day the cw rig wouldn't key up. Got that fixed telling myself these snafus are part of the hobby--enjoy them (it's true). On the bright side, 100 w. is perfectly fine for a domestic cw contest--even with an average antenna you can hold a frequency and run stations...do everything the big guns do. I did not plan to operate in this contest but got drawn into it for a few hours anyway. I'll be back next year. -- K5UJ
