11/19/2002 | W0YC I enjoyed participating as an alumni of the University of Minnesota Gopher Radio Club. We had several folks stop by to work the mike. Even my YL got on the air to make a few contacts. She really enjoyed hearing from the Ohio stations, as she grew up there. She still is waiting to hear from the Wooster folks, though.

Some of you working QRP out on the coasts and down in Texas were impressive. I heard you like you were almost sitting in the shack. Some of you were coming in nearly 5/9 to us here in Minnesota. I hope I gave you accurate RST's...

I know we nearly logged 700 contacts, and we were only short a couple sections of a clean sweep. Getting IA in the last 30 minutes to clear a section was a cause for celebration. Thanks for the QSO.

We enjoyed working the other college/university clubs as well. I think Harvard out did us with a check of 12. I know a lot of you were probably confused about a check of 19 with voices so young, but if you check us on QRZ, you will find we have been around as W0YC since 1919. We are fortunate to exist on campus and we appreciate your patience with us as we learn how to contest. I know we had people participating in the Sweepstakes who never touch HF otherwise, or they haven't gotten their ticket yet. Again, kudos to everyone, it really makes the hobby fun.
