2002 ARRL 10 Meter Contest

12/17/2002 | W8JWN This was the first year using a logging program and the N1MM Logger was superb! Although I am a slow typist, I managed to use the program without any difficulties. I had family and church commitments which limited my time to 23 hours but still I was able to get 232,210 points. I used three antennas and each one seemed to work better than the others and various times. The 3 element at 80 feet, which I thought was too high, worked the best. The 3 element at 35 feet fixed on Europe never was better than the 80 foot antenna. A sloping dipole to the south at 50 feet worked well into SA. I was disappointed with stateside contacts to the east and southeast of my QTH in the UP of Michigan. Next year, the lower antenna will be fixed on Washington D.C.! I missed that multiplier!

How do the stations in Ohio work 1700 Q's in 27 hours on SSB??? It must be the antennas and lower latitude. It's tough at 45 degrees north!!

I'll be back! -- W8JWN
