12/22/2002 | K0SR Usually I try CW only in this contest, this year I went mixed mode. It sure keeps you busy. Some good rates, even though the openings to Europe and JA sure weren't what they were last year. The sporadic-E Friday night was a lot of fun, with rates over 200 hr on CW at times. To bad we only experince that mode every 5 or 6 years.

It's a darned shame they put this contest in the dead of winter. We get maybe 15 or 16 hours of daylight here in Mid December, and that has a huge impact on our scores. Maximum operating time of 36 hours ? That's pretty funny.
