07/08/2002 | W1SJ 1. Saturday conditions absolutely rocked! 2. Monster hours to Europe all morning with endless waves of stations from Russia and Ukraine. After sundown, the opening to Japan was much longer than I've ever heard. 3. The venerable TS-830 went down with a bad relay and I had to make do with a 25-year old TS520 for 3 hours (it did fine!). 4.The rates crashed Sunday afternoon during the stateside run. Everyone told me how strong I was and how clear the frequencies were, but I just couldn't get strong rates going. Maybe conditions were just too good. Maybe I worked everyone! -- W1SJ
