2003 ARRL International DX Contest (Phone)

03/04/2003 | N8FK Once again a quick slapped togather for me. Started of wed when I relized I would need a antenna for my ground floor condo. So off to the hardware store where I purchased a 5 gallon bucket and lid I then cut a hole in the lid mounting a base from a Tank antenna. Followed by providing a point for radials. I placed the 15ft 6in whip and several 20ft radials out early saturday morning buring the radials in the 8in of snow.....
not knowing how it was going to work I fed the coax to my Icom AT-150 tuner than my IC-735 wow tuned 40 20 15 meters great but needed 10m so I made a quick dipole and hung it from my balcony at 8ft. now normaly this would be great antenna system but the location here was poor directly to the west a 4 story building and to the east and south hills north was clear but I was not trying to work VE's so how did it work? I operated a total of 10 hours between sat and sun. score 50.904 168 qso's 101 multis and hopefully with qsl's goin out today dxcc on 10 and 15.

73 see you next time
Brian N8FK
PS never ran more than 50 watts amazing I think -- N8FK
