2003 ARRL International DX Contest (Phone)

03/07/2003 | K3DNE My first full-time attempt at a multiband DX (just 20,15 and 10m - my wires on 160, 80 and 40m work ok for SS but not for DX) contest from my HF challenged home QTH. I decided to try to maximize the club score by operating assisted and logged onto the K4JA telnet site which interfaced extremely well with Writelog. I found myself chasing a lot of spots instead of doing much running which probably lead to my less than expected qso totals but the mults are probably better than if I ran more. Finding a decent run freq, especially on 20m and 15m, was difficult - I suspect due to the decline of activity on 10m and more stations trying to squeeze into 20 and 15m. I was so surprised by the Eu scew path (around 100 degrees to Eu) on Saturday morning that I trudged out in the still knee high snow with my compass to make sure the recent high winds hadn't moved my antenna.
