03/07/2003 | KH6/W4MDL This was my first attempt at ANY contest. I was only able to be up on the day freqs 10-20, but I had a blast anyways from my modest station. I managed to work just under 80,000 points only working in the day. I think I would have done better if I could have put a little more punch out there. It was hard to get someone to anwser such a light CQ from hawaii when KH5RR was blasting away just up the band. HI HI! Can't wait to see how my rookie score compares. In the same respect, hunting for QSO's seemed to be difficult becouse most stateside stations were not calling CQ, they were hunting themselves as the DX all called CQ. SO, it was very challaging but rewarding. Can't wait for the next one. -- W4MDL
