2003 ARRL January VHF Sweepstakes
in Pendleton, Oregon (DN05). The almost 3000' of elevation gain certainly
helped out! It was foggy and icy all day Saturday, but upon my return
Sunday morning after a foggy drive up the hill, I was greeted with
clear skies, an excellent sunrise and superb band conditions. Propagation
to western Oregon and Washington was incredible on 2 meters, and all the
rovers sure helped out, giving multipliers that otherwise wouldn't have been.
Still, there were several grids on 6 and 432 on my wish list, but wasn't able
to get. With cooperative weather and propagation, this was my most enjoyable
outing for the winter event! -- WR7X
